The owners of a beautiful home perched high above Spanish Banks were struggling with a living room that offered panoramic and breath-taking mountain, ocean and city views but a layout oriented around a fireplace on an opposing wall. A key mandate was therefore reorienting the living room, a task achieved with the design of a free-standing, sand-pan custom fireplace that allows the owners to enjoy the views and fireplace simultaneously. Built at an overall length of 14 feet, the height of the fireplace was determined by lower roof lines that were deemed non essential elements of postcard view. A pale limestone was selected to avoid competing with the views, and the furnishings carried through with a similar pallet.
