When an active business woman decided to create an environment where fitness and training accessories would be accessible to everyone, she launched a concept that combined private session athletic training with a well merchandised, fitness- oriented store.
The retail environment needed to put customers at ease while projecting style and refinement. Cedar wood accents applied to pure white backgrounds helped evoke a sense of calm and comfort. Artistically styled super graphics introduced large format black and white images of athletes as an additional design element in the environment.
The store layout was built around distinct sporting activities – cycling, triathlon, running etc. – with a focus on circulation to allow ease of movement throughout the entire store to the fitness space at the back. Clean lines in the millwork and materials such as white Corian provided a stylish but rugged backdrop able to withstand continuous shopper interactions.
The gym component was intended to have a tougher, “warehouse” appeal and the concept translated into plywood wall paneling with a rough feel, milled and organised to suit the space and proportions. Soft rubberised flooring with the appearance of concrete also provided an edgy but highly functional design element.
